Hi everyone
Last week you all received a little information on the different types of STD's you can get. This week I will be focusing on ways to help you prevent getting a STD. You usually hear most people saying the best way to not catch anything is to not be doing anything. Lets be serious in college more than half the student s are sexually active. Being sexually active means you take part in anal, oral and/or vaginal sex. All of these forms of sex are ways you can contract an STD!
This week we will focus on condoms as the main way to prevent a person from getting an STD. There are so many types of condoms out there that people don't usually know what type is right for them. Some guys feel the best condoms are magnums not knowing there little guy doesn't live up to that size. The CDC states that wearing a condom wrong and not wearing a condom that is the right size are the biggest reasons why so many accidents tend to happen.
There are also female condoms that can be used. These condoms are very big and look weird, but they are very safe and put inside of the females vagina. Most people are not usually comfortable with this type of condom, but you need to figure out what is best for you and your partner and what you both are okay with.
Make sure you are always using a condom correctly and never try to use 2 condoms on top of each other it will only rip. Also always check the condom before and after you have sex to make sure there are no rips in the condom.
I hope you all enjoyed reading my post this week. Next week i would like to focus on getting tested with your partner. If you have other ideas for next week all ideas are welcome.

I found it funny how you brought up that men where magnums when they aren't needed. I think that the female should just carry 2 kinds, not look, and let them pick their poison. I think it would be interesting to look at the statistics on how many men fake putting a condom on. Just a thought, because they do that as well.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your post and how you wrote the facts. For my physiology class last year, I had to do a report on the female condom. I didn't even know female condoms existed, but after creating a pamphlet on it, I realized many women don't know about it either. I also think it's important you put how more than half the students in college are sexually active because some people think using a condom isn't needed or they are "too good" to get an STI, when in reality it can happen to anyone. I think this is a very good topic especially for a college class because it is obvious STIs are a problem on every college campus and everyone sexually active is at risk.
ReplyDeleteGreat title! haha. Very important issue today. Even though we have hundreds and thousands of prevention programs and education about safe sex and condom use, there are still so many people that do not practice safe sex and STIs are still rampant. Condom use cannot be yelled loud enough and I like that this whole post was dedicated to it.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your post, I like how you included your previous and next week topics in your blog. The information you provided was helpful to us all. Knowing how to use a condom properly cannot be stress enough. Although, there are many programs dedicated to safe sex practices, the tools and knowledge are not being put to good use. I cannot wait to read your topic next week!
ReplyDeleteTitle was very intriguing, haha! But very very very important topic that needs to be discussed. Bringing awareness to female condoms as well as men's is so important. It is crazy to think some people don't know what those are and should be brought to everybody's attention. Being safe is so important with everything going around these days.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading this post because it is filled with honesty, and straight to the point. This post is great because you include a variety of condoms, and not just the average ones that are located in convenient stores. Keep it up, very interesting topic!

ReplyDeleteYou wouldn't believe the amount of people that I have had conversations with about safe sex, that refuse to wear condoms! Yeah, birth control pills, shots, etc. will be pretty effective with you not getting pregnant, but they don't protect from all of those nasty diseases. I think that our generation is one of the most careless when it comes to safe sex. They all think that it will never happen to them; but it only takes one time! I enjoyed this post, and all of the tips that you gave about wearing condoms and the benefits of them.
ReplyDeleteI agree condoms are very important if you are sexually active. Many people do not understand the importance of condoms and think that STDs are just some made up thing. There are many different condoms that are out here to make sex not only safe but pleasurable still. It is way better to be safe than sorry.
ReplyDeleteI liked this post because you got right to the point! College students need to realize STI are closer then we think and anyone can get them, not just "dirty" people. People are age need to be wearing condoms to protect ourselves.
ReplyDeleteCondoms need to be worn at all times, but many people do not use them. They do not realize how beneficial it could be and how it can prevent many things. I hate when people say they don't use them because it doesn't feel the same, but its always better to be safe.
ReplyDeleteThis was very informative and can be helpful for those college students that are unaware of their options! There are many different ways to protect yourself and I think its important to have knowledge on the different forms of contraceptives. I like that you said everyone needs to find what works best for them! Great job!!
